Scarred by childhood abuse and neglect, I unknowingly invited darkness into my adult life. Then I met Rodney Oliver the charismatic and talented love of my life, in 1993. Behind his captivating facade – sharp dresser, soulful singer, skilled carpenter, passionate lover, athlete, and hard worker – hid a devastating secret: crack cocaine addiction. I was blind to the perilous path I was about to tread.

As our relationship spiraled out of control, so did my life. I ballooned from a size 7/8 to 270 pounds trapped in a vicious cycle of codependency. My story is told through poignant poetry and is a heart-wrenching exploration of love, addiction, and survival.
