Scars From An Addict:
My Story Told Through Poetry
Scarred by childhood abuse and neglect, I unknowingly invited darkness into my adult life. Then I met Rodney Oliver the charismatic and talented love of my life, in 1993. Behind his captivating facade – sharp dresser, soulful singer, skilled carpenter, passionate lover, athlete, and hard worker – hid a devastating secret: crack cocaine addiction. I was blind to the perilous path I was about to tread.
As our relationship spiraled out of control, so did my life. I ballooned from a size 7/8 to 270 pounds trapped in a vicious cycle of codependency. My story is told through poignant poetry and is a heart-wrenching exploration of love, addiction, and survival.
This is a stark reminder: loving an addict from a distance is not enough; they will destroy you first. “My journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a warning to those trapped in abusive relationships: please, leave before it’s too late. Learn from my story, and let poetry be your solace and strength.”
Customer Reviews
I got the book directly from the author at one of her book signing. I wanted to be signed and I wanted to support her. I knew that the book was about domestic abuse, trauma and past experiences but this book right here, took me by surprise. It started nice and slow but then it just kept getting and better- I telling you, I read it in 4 hours-with a break in between because I had to do something for work but as soon as I finished I went right back to it because I wanted to know what happened next. I read it too fast that now I have to slow down and digest it- this book is too good, very well written, the descriptions and wording just keeps you engaged. This will make a great gift- man or woman. A must buy!
